BANANA & PICKLE NOISEMAKERS On a recent trip to Germany, we uncovered some documentation that gives
us some more information about these noisemakers which allows us to better date these
items. A catalog from the maker of these items was uncovered that shows handrawn pictures
of the various noisemakers that they made. Picture 2 shows in the lower right corner 4 different type of noisemakers this company made including bananas and pickles. Picture 3 shows the same noisemakers with a paper streamer attached to them in the lower left section of the page. Although the catalog did not have a date, these items are probably from the late 1920's to the early 1930's. One clue is that nowhere in the catalog was there any references to Hitler or to the Nazi party. Many catalogs after the mid 1930's had these types of references in them because of the political climate in Germany at that time.
